No showers were cleaned in preparation for this trip.
Rochester to Montague was an easy 3 1/2 hour drive today. No big stress beforehand, as I did this ride last year and know what to expect. I didn’t have to leave until around 2:30, so I had time get get everything together this morning. I think I have the camping setup dialed for these supported rides.
I got here right around 6pm, checked in, and sat down for dinner. The riders meeting was at 7, so I finished eating just as that began, then got my tent set up in short order. we only have around 250 riders on this year’s tour, half of their goal.

I may not have Cynthia on this ride, but I do have Kris, who I met last year through Cynthia. I met up with her after having a call with my mom. She introduced me to a new friend named Bill, who she knows from this ride years ago. We’re going to ride together this week. The plan is to enjoy the ride. No crazy schedule. We’re going to make the most of a beautiful ride and have a good time!
Day one of riding tomorrow will take us to Ludington over 65 miles. The forecast calls for a high of 71, but an 88% chance of rain for this area. I’ve learned not to stress over the forecast though… it’s quite often not right!
Turning in early at 10pm, going to try to catch up on some sleep (in a tent?). Compared to last year though, it’s 68 degrees right now and very pleasant. I’m very excited to be here, and I’m looking forward to a good day tomorrow.
